The Elmore County Panthers (1-1) are hoping to bounce back after a difficult loss to rival Tallassee last week, 25-9. They travel to Ozark this week to battle the Carroll Eagles (0-2) in a non-region showdown.

This game could be a season momentum-shifter that could give the Panthers back some of the confidence that was shaken out of them after a lackluster performance against their rivals. Even if the Panthers did not play the game they sought out to play, they showed moments of promise. Senior running back Eli Thames put up a fight throughout the entire game, rushing a total of 142 yards on 28 carries at a rate of 5 yards per carry. Senior quarterback Gage Davis also put up an incredible effort throughout the rivalry battle against Tallassee, despite being mostly stifled in the passing game. Davis completed 10 passes on 21 attempts for a total of 76 yards and one passing touchdown to junior tight end Kason Moe in the first quarter. After that first strike to tie the game up at the tail end of the first quarter, the Panthers did not score again until they managed a safety in the third quarter.Â
