For a team of a certain caliber, there are good wins and there are ugly wins. Stanhope Elmore’s girls basketball team — ranked No. 6 in Alabama Sports Writers Association’s most recent poll — is a high-caliber team that expects to win and do the little things right along the way.

On Thursday night, the Mustangs picked up a dominant win at non-area opponent Tallassee, 52-28. SEHS got right into their press from the start of the game, putting 19 unanswered points on the Tigers through the first quarter. It was an exhibition of exactly why the Mustangs deserve to be ranked in the top 10 teams in Class 6A.
