Wetumpka High School Boys Basketball

Cliff Williams / TPI Wetumpka’s Chris Robinson brings the ball up court against Prattville Christian.

Still stinging from a season-opening loss to Pike Road, Wetumpka boys basketball coach Steven Thomas challenged his Indians to keep up the intensity in their home opener against Prattville Christian on Friday.

The Indians took his message to heart and tore through the Panthers in the first quarter, outscoring their opponents by 19 points. The run was fueled by Andrew Voyles' 15 first-quarter points. A 40-percent shooter from a year ago, he finished the night with 22 as Wetumpka defeated PCA, 66-40, to improve to 1-1 on the year.
