A 40-year veteran teacher, Beverly Johnson, was named as William L. Radney Elementary School's final Teacher of the Year.

Johnson was chosen by her peers at the end of the school year, the school’s last year at its current location and also in name. Students in fifth grade will transfer with former Nathaniel H. Stephens Elementary students to form Nathaniel H. Stephens Intermediate School and will move to the current Alexander City Middle School building. Radney sixth graders will transfer to the middle school to become William L. Radney Junior High School and move to the former Benjamin Russell High School location.
