For more than three decades, former Benjamin Russell basketball coach Paul Carney served the Alexander City community and school system, leaving it better than he found it. And on Friday, Carney was recognized for all he’s accomplished at BRHS with a court dedication ceremony held between varsity basketball games.

“We gather here not to just honor a name on the floor,” former BRHS football coach and athletic director Steve Savarese said. “But to honor a legacy that will stand for generations. From this day forth, every practice, every day, every step taken on this court will carry the name of a man who poured his heart and soul into this program.”
