It’s that time of the wrestling season when someone will reign supreme in their weight class. Last week, the Benjamin Russell boys and girls traveled to Montgomery to take on the Class 6A South Sectionals.

Jyque Norris kicked things off for the boys team in the 150-pound weight class. He compiled wins over Jace Johnson of Hueytown and Walker Anderson of Helena — one via pin and the next by tech fall. Those two wins cemented his spot in the quarterfinals, where he took on Brookwood’s Noah Davis. The two duked it out, with Davis narrowly taking the win over Norris, 11-8.
