On Monday, May 4, the Central Coosa softball team saw its season come to an end after falling to Isabella twice in the Class 2A Area Tournament. And to much expectation, that’s the last softball any Cougar expected to play in 2026.

However, a bombshell report from the AHSAA removed the area champs, Horseshoe Bend and Isabella, from the Class 2A Regional Tournament. In their place, Central Coosa saw itself go from the No. 3 to the No.1 almost overnight.
