East Alabama Community Foundation: The nonprofit that helps nonprofits

Ben Freeman, representing East Alabama Community Foundation, spoke to the Alexander City Kiwanis club at its regular meeting Thursday on how the organization helps other nonprofits and those wishing to make donations.

“The history of the community foundation in East Alabama goes back to ‘07,” Freeman said. “(The) mayor of Opelika decided to start the community foundation of East Alabama. The community foundation is an organization, a public foundation, that gives grant money back to the community, back to the local nonprofits.”
