The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is reminding motorists to use extra caution on Alabama’s roadways this time of year, as deer activity and vehicle-versus-wildlife crashes increase significantly during the fall and early winter months.

According to crash data from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, troopers investigated 1,652 vehicle-versus-wildlife crashes statewide in 2024. The majority of these occurred in the fall and winter months, when deer movement is most active.
