While James Spann is best known in Alabama for telling you to “Respect the polygon,” during his Weather 101 program Thursday, he told the audience the Tallapoosa County area is short on storm spotters.

“We do not have enough storm spotters where you live, it is hurting us,” Spann said. “We can't buy a report out of Chambers, Randolph, Tallapoosa, Coosa counties. We desperately need more storm spotters, and for five minutes you're going to get a crash course. The normal class is about an hour and 15 minutes.”
