In 2022, Alexander City Council passed an ordinance allowing the city to place a lien on structures that are condemned and need demolishing.

The failure to comply code, Section 113.3, was a way for the city to collect monies paid for the demolition of the condemned structure by placing a lien on the structure the property owner would have to pay to retain ownership.
