2 inmates dead, 5 injured in ADOC transport van crash

Lizi Arbogast Gwin / TPI An Alabama Department of Corrections van crashed Wednesday night in Dadeville, leaving two dead and five injured.

Wednesday, an Alabama Department of Corrections van transporting seven inmates was involved in a single-car crash resulting in two fatalities and other serious injuries. Notifications have been made to all inmates’ emergency contacts, according to a press release.

Alex City Community Based Facility inmates Willie Crayton, Jake Jones, Bruce Clements, Thomas Bass, Heath Garrett, Shawn Wasden and Richard Jackson were returning to the facility after work when the crash occurred on Elder Road in Dadeville. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash.
