The City of Alexander City is planning a sewer repair project that will cost upward of a half million dollars to replace portions of a sewer line that corroded 35 years before it pipe was scheduled to be replaced.

The corrosion was discovered in August and caused sewage to collect outside the pipe along Trussell and Coley Creek Roads. City employees discovered the problem when they found a pipe leak that was “smaller than a coke can” while responding to an odor complaint in the area.
