It’s official. The Alexander City Schools Board of Education approved the ACS consolidation plan.

All board members but Dr. Chante Ruffin voted in favor of the consolidation plan. Now that the plan has been approved by the board, it must be approved by the Alabama State Department of Education. If approved, ACS will operate on a four-school system after high school students move into the new Benjamin Russell High School. ACS superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes’ plan is as follows: Pre-K through second-grade students remain at Jim Pearson Elementary School; third through fifth grade will be housed at the current Alexander City Middle School; sixth through eighth grade will move to the current BRHS building and high school students will take house in the new BRHS building.
