Local residential sewer rates may not see an increase this year.

According to the Jan. 6 agenda of the City of Alexander City City Council, the city council will be presented with two ordinances to amend Alexander City Code Section 90-66 Sewer Rates — sewer rates; basis; adjustment and allocation. One of these ordinances will change the industrial sewage base rate to match the commercial sewage base rate, which is $48, if approved. The other ordinance will remove the possibility of an increase for residential sewage rates in 2025 and 2026, according to city council president Buffy Colvin.
