Coosa County woman remains missing 41 years later

Over the last several decades, Coosa County has experienced multiple cold cases. From Chanty Shiverdecker, a 15-year-old girl who was murdered whose case remains unsolved, to an unsolved 1995 homicide of Nicky Machen, the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office continues to work to solve various cold cases.

Similarly, the CCSO continues working on solving a missing persons case from 1984. Mary Jo Burnett first went missing on June 1, 1984 from Rockford. Just 16 years old, she was classified as an endangered runaway.
