For the first time in nearly three decades, the death penalty will be considered in Dadeville as one of the alleged murderers involved in the murder of the Tidwell couple is going to trial next week.

According to court documents, Derrick Hightower, 37, of Columbus, was indicted for capital murder on April 2, 2021, following the murders of Willie and Barbara Tidwell who were found dead in their home on North Barrett Street on April 17, 2020.Â
