An upcoming event is aiming to make sure Medicare recipients have the essential information they need to prepare for 2014.

The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) will host free Medicare checkups on Oct. 15, 22 and 29, Nov. 5, 12 and 19, and Dec. 3 at the Sportplex Cabin from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
