Mayor: Water conditions improve in Alex City

Alexander City Mayor Woody Baird holds up an old pipe to show where some of the water issues are coming from.

After several bouts of freezing temperatures and some heavy rains, water conditions in Alexander City have improved, according to Mayor Woody Baird.

“I just wanted to express that this is what I have been saying all along, that this is a nature event,” Baird said. “The whole algae bloom was a nature event that we don’t have any control over. We can only put so many chemicals in the water and then we can’t put any more.”
