Officials say a house fire on Pine Street Monday night was started when combustible materials ignited in the house after being left in close proximity to a space heater.

Capt. Craig Clark, fire marshal with the Alexander City Fire Department, said he received a page informing him of a fire at 725 East Pine Street Monday at 8:30 p.m.
