Despite growing concerns about the Publix development not coming to Alexander City, the sign is finally up at the corner of Highways 280 and 63 and the shopping center is coming. 

The City of Alexander City is to thank in large part for that to the incentives it extended to the developer once during the process, and those city incentives — worth millions of dollars — for the project may finally take effect.
