Repairs made after 18-wheeler causes damage at sportplex

After the 18-wheeler pulled the fiber optic cable away from the building, portions of the building were damaged. Doster Construction quickly replaced the cinder block, and they will redo the drop down ceiling.

An 18-wheeler delivering materials to the new Benjamin Russell High School caught a fiber optic cable at the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex, causing some damage to the Parks and Recreation main office entrance at 7:30 a.m. this morning.

“The truck got turned around on Sportplex Boulevard,” Alexander City Parks and Recreation director Kasey Kaschak said. “They tried to turn around in front of the gym to go back to Elkahatchee Road to get on the construction entrance and caught our fiber optic line.”
