Reyes to recommend consolidation plan

Alexander City Schools superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes plans to make a recommendation to consolidate students into four different schools starting the 2026-2027 school year.

With change comes opportunity, and with big changes coming to the Alexander City Schools system, several opportunities are following.

Over the course of the last few months, ACS superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes has been developing a plan to consolidate schools in Alex City after the new Benjamin Russell High School is complete. In October 2024, Reyes held two meetings to inform the community about a possible plan to consolidate all students in the ACS system to move into a four school system. Reyes plan is as follows: Pre-K through second-grade students remain at Jim Pearson Elementary School; third through fifth grade will be housed at the current Alexander City Middle School; sixth through eighth grade will move to the current BRHS building and high school students will take house in the new BRHS building.
