According to a press release from the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department, a scammer is using the name of Chief Deputy Fred White.

The caller is telling recipients they have missed jury duty and a warrant has been issued for their arrest, the release stated. The scammers are calling from an Anniston phone number 256-294-4522. This form of fraud is called spoofing, law enforcement stated.
