As families are preparing for the back-to-school rush, school officials are preparing for a tighter budget.

Gov. Bob Riley announced Friday that the level of proration—the process of cutting appropriations when revenues fall short of projections—-in the Education Trust Fund must be increased to 11 percent for the remainder of the 2009 fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.
