Stink bugs reported throughout Central Alabama

The brown marmorated stink bug has been reported throughout central and north Alabama.

An increase of brown marmorated stink bugs, or Halyomorpha halys, has been reported throughout central and north Alabama.

The invasive species was first reported in the United States in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the 1990s, according to a blog by Alabama Extension. The first reports of the insect in Alabama were in 2010, and has now been established in all 67 counties. That same year, the insect caused over $37 million in damage to apples alone in the eastern U.S.
