Two Alexander City rail crossings to get new safety features

If you’ve driven along Lee or Washington streets lately near downtown you may have noticed a flurry of activity along the rail crossing that connects the two feeder streets just across the street from the Alexander City Board of Education building.

Workers from Norfolk Southern Railroad have been in the area for about two weeks laying the groundwork to install lights and signal arms at that crossing. Previously, the crossing only had the crossbuck signage, with no other safety mechanisms in place.
