Wellborn helps recapture land speed record run for FS1 television show

Tim Wellborn’s K&K Insurance Charger sets on the Bonneville Salt Flats after running as part of filming for a television show that will air Wednesday on FS1.

Alexander City’s Tim Wellborn is known worldwide for helping preserve the history of American muscle cars, but recently he took a seat behind the wheel to help recapture a moment 45 years ago that still stands as one of the benchmarks in speed and automotive power.

Wellborn, who owns Wellborn Muscle Car Museum, took the K&K Insurance Dodge Charger that he now owns to Bonneville Salt Flats last month, just as NASCAR’s Bobby Isaac did 45 years ago.
