After defeating Calera, the Benjamin Russell baseball team secured homefield advantage for the first round of the Class 6A baseball playoffs. And early on, coach Ricky Brooks knows it's going to be a tough match up against Brookwood (18-13).

“I expect a good baseball team,” Brooks said. “They played (against) good baseball teams, they are 18-13 overall. Their No. 1 pitcher is committed to Shelton State, which is a really good junior college, one with the top junior colleges in the state. So, I mean, they're going to have good players, and we're going to have to play well to win. That's our expectation.”
