After 11 years, the memory of the Air Force jet that crashed in Alexander City killing everyone aboard had begun to fade, but Saturday, several area Cub Scouts made an effort to keep that memory alive.

Saturday morning, the seven Cub Scout members of Avondale pack 67 and several of their parents hiked through the woods by Dadeville Road to the memorial site of the fateful crash. Each one carried tools to fix up the site, which after 11 years, had almost been completely overtaken by the forest.
