Special Mission|After nearly a year in Afghanistan, local mother surprises daughter

Jacob’s Ladder was the scene for a long awaited reunion between mother and daughter.

Sherry Burton, a member of the U.S. Army 101st Sustainment Brigade, serving in Afghanistan, arrived at the school Monday morning to a line of more than 100 students from the school waving American flags and cheering as her car pulled into the parking lot. Standing, in the crowd, with open arms, wide eyes and a homemade sign was Burton’s 4 year-old daughter, Nazyia Drake.
