For years, Dr. Seuss has been a beloved author for children and adults. Even though he died before many of the students at Jim Pearson were even born, his legacy still lives on and Wednesday his birthday was celebrated throughout the country as part of the National Education Association’s Read Across America celebration.

“Dr. Seuss was all about helping children learn to read,” David Wiggins, assistant principal at Jim Pearson Elementary, said. “He wrote books children enjoyed reading and learned from it.”
