Families are tracing their heritage back to Elmore County.
Everyone knows about the Trail of Tears and how the Muskogee Indians were forced to Oklahoma by Andrew Jackson. But there are two major migrations of Blacks from Elmore County to “Indian Territory” in the 1800s and early 1900s. Some are the ancestors of Dr. Myrna Roberts who now lives in Oklahoma.
