The Advent of Forward Facing Sonar

Forward Facing Sonar

The hottest topic for debate right now is forward facing sonar. Devices such as the Garmin Livescope, which shows underwater structures in real-time, such as rocks or tree trunks, and is accurate enough for anglers to distinguish between different fish species at a glance.

The results of forward-facing sonar in competitive fishing speak for themselves. We’ve always known that many fish roamed and suspended from fall to winter following schools of baitfish. But what recent tournaments have revealed is that more fish continue this trend even when the water has warmed, and conditions seem perfect for the shallow move.
