Former Benjamin Russell High School business teacher Linda Carter finds teenagers witty and delightful, challenging and creative, even after 20 years of teaching; however, she finds a problem with high school curriculum: Teens do not have enough lessons that teach the important character traits they need to be successful. Carter’s new book, What I Need 2 Succeed: From A to Z for Teens, is her solution to that problem.

When Carter began her teaching career, character education was part of the curriculum; however, through the years, she said, just teaching the material for her class left little time to teach additional material, such as character education.
