(The Center Square) – Hurricane Isaias threatened Florida, Alabama and Mississippi with damaging winds, heavy rain and storm surge Friday as officials urged residents to finish preparations before an expected overnight landfall.

The storm remained a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph, according to a Friday afternoon update from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. Landfall was expected along the Florida Panhandle late Friday or early Saturday.
