I never hear an argument that Home Alone isn’t a Christmas movie. 

It is centered around the adventures of a family of 15 traveling to Paris to visit with family for Christmas. So is Die Hard. There is John McClane traveling by plane across the country to see his family. He meets with his wife at Nakatomi Plaza during a Christmas party. Yes, they are separated but there is a message in all this.
