Once again, Wetumpka’s softball team is sending two players to the North-South All-Star game this July. This season, the AHSAA tapped juniors Lalah Culpepper and Lexie Smith for the honors as they will represent Wetumpka on the South All Star team.

File / TPI Wetumpka softball pitcher Lalah Culpepper, a rising senior, leads the Indians in batting average, RBIs and home runs, as well as strikeouts. Culpepper was selected to the annual AHSAA North-South All Star game which will be held in July.

“They’re definitely excited,” Wetumpka softball coach Daryl Otwell said. “That’s a huge honor, not only for them, but for their families. And of course for our program and our community, to play in such a competitive game over the summer. It’s a tradition that we really enjoy, to have 18 of the best South softball players on one team, and having two of those is definitely a huge accomplishment.”

File / TPI Wetumpka second baseman Lexie Smith, a rising senior, leads the Indians in stolen bases and has turned 12 double plays on the year. Smith bats .436 as the lead off hitter, scoring a whopping 71 runs on the season. Smith was selected to represent Wetumpka in the AHSAA's annual North-South All Star game.
