Cliff Williams / TPI First responders search the waters of Lake Martin at Chimney Rock after someone went under water and didn’t resurface Wednesday afternoon.

The body of a 24-year-old man was recovered Wednesday evening from the waters of Lake Martin at Chimney Rock, and his identity has been confirmed as Jayden Baretta, 24, of Georgia, according to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin.

Previous reports from first responders stated Baretta had jumped from the rock, but more information was gathered as the incident was investigated further. Franklin said Friday afternoon Baretta didn’t jump from Chimney Rock.
