Football has always been a point of pride in Wetumpka. Athletic director Bear Woods is responsible for that pride and its upkeep, as he prepares his players and coaching staff for another season of Alabama high school football. With just over 90 days until the start of the 2026 football season, the Wetumpka Indians are back in the full swing of things, running plays, making adjustments, using every day as a chance to strengthen and condition their bodies ahead of the grueling season. On Friday, Woods organized the annual Black and Gold spring football practice, with the Indians’ top defense facing its top offense. With two takeaways during the game, the defense got the win over the offense.
