The Stanhope Elmore softball team picked up its first wins of the season last week, first at Wetumpka’s annual softball tournament and then in their first Class 6A Area 4 game of the season against Percy Julian.Â
The Mustangs (3-8) played their first tournament game against Billingsley, winning 10-8 through four innings. Stanhope Elmore got the bats going early, scoring its first two runs on a double from first baseman Taylor Jackson. Second baseman Taylor Burkett led the Mustangs at the plate, going 2-for-3 with zero walks and zero strikeouts. Hayden Bush and Savannah Wyatt each contributed two RBIs to the winning effort.Â

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
Those that have in ground sprinkler systems should drain them and
cover above ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
