Every year when the AHSAA puts on its annual All-Star week during the summer, athletes from across the state hold their breaths hoping they might be one of the few selected to represent their towns. This year, Wetumpka had its first boys’ basketball player selected to the all-star game, rising senior forward Tom Suddith.

“It’s great seeing an individual that you know has put in the work and has grown as a player over the course of four years,” Wetumpka basketball coach Steven Thomas said. “Seeing him being selected, with the impact he’s had on the team, especially over the last two years for us, just seeing that pay dividends. I mean, it’s really just great all around.”
