Reeltown Elementary School third-grade teacher Tara Richards was uncertain where her diagnosis was headed, but she did not want that to keep her from telling her story.

Richards woke up one morning with a black spot on her right eye, which she could not see out of. After ignoring it for a few days and it growing a little painful, Richards’ husband told her to get it checked out. The couple did not know the optic neuritis was an indicator of multiple sclerosis.
