Webster is getting back in the rodeo ring

Cliff Williams / TPI Tallassee resident Charlie Webster will return to the rodeo ring as a clown at the Reeltown Rodeo July 4-5. It has been 35 years since Webster was in the ring and he has even built a new car for the act.

Charlie Webster might be an octogenarian but it’s not stopping him getting in the ring at the rodeo.

Webster was 18 when he first rode his first bull at the Reeltown Rodeo. After his riding days, he became a rodeo clown and retired a few years later. But July 4, Webster will return to the ring for the first time in 35 years to face a rodeo crowd wearing baggy denim, a plaid shirt, a straw hat, clown makeup and driving a homemade car.
