Cliff Williams / TPI Tallassee Mayor Joey Wiginton explains that no approval has been given for a data center, only that the city has received an inquiry.
Tallassee Mayor Joey Wiginton still has an open mind about a possible data center on the banks of the Tallapoosa River and near downtown Tallassee in the old 1852 mill. But since news of a possible data center has broken, almost all social media comments and talk in town has been overwhelmingly opposed.
“There has been so much negativity,” Wiginton said. “We haven’t said yes to anything related to a data center.”
