The Dadeville Public Library nailed a visit from Short the Squirrel for its Unearth a Story summer reading program. Short the Squirrel founder Dee Bennett read “Why Short the Squirrel Loves to Read” before bringing up a few summer readers to dress in costumes for the others to guess what their occupation would be in a story or the places they visited. The costumes ranged from royalty to a baker and the kids did not leave without telling Short how much they loved him. Bennett and staff also left two of their “Short the Squirrel” books for the library and gifts for the summer readers.
