Cliff Williams / TPI The new Wetumpka Impact Discovery and Visitor Center on Company Street in downtown Wetumpka is now open. The center features paintings, videos and volunteers with information about the marine impact crater in the area.

It’s Alabama Impact Crater Discovery Week and it’s all centered in Wetumpka.

From the U.S. Space and Rocket Center to Auburn University, geologists and astronomers will be in Wetumpka to shed light on one of the best preserved meteor impact craters in the world.
