Cliff Williams / TPI Just inside the garage door opening up to Warehouse 231 shows the burned interior. Almost two weeks ago, firefighters had to battle the blaze from this opening because of the potential of the rafters and decking falling on them.

One might think serving others would be the last thing on the mind after losing a business to a fire less than two weeks earlier.

Instead, while the smell of a devastating fire was still fresh, Vivian O’Nay and Warehouse 231 owners created a fundraiser for the fire departments who battled a blaze in their businesses on Sept. 10. They turned an already planned program for their customers into something to benefit 11 volunteer fire departments. Just days after the blaze they organized Barbecue for the Brave.
