The Benjamin Russell girls basketball team fell 50-32 to Calera in the Class 6A Area 5 championship, earning a runner-up finish.

For the Wildcats (13-9), Ka’Mariya Banks finished with a double-double, getting 10 points and 11 rebounds. Amari Cunningham finished behind with seven points, nine rebounds and one steal. Ryleigh Ruffin added six points, Gabby McKinney added five points and Miya Hicks pitched in with four.
