While the City of Alexander City is busy fighting the algae bloom, the rest of the state is fighting the same battle.

Adams Water Treatment Plant chief operator Charlie Edmondson explains the process used to combat the algae bloom to members of the mayor's office.

“This isn't a Tallapoosa County problem, this is a statewide, Alabama problem,” Adams Water Treatment Plant chief operator Charlie Edmondson said. “We're actually very, very low with the amount of compounds that's found in other places in the state. Opelika, for instance, the last time I was told it was checked, it was about four to five times (more than ours).”
